Empowering diversity and inclusion in the tech industry is crucial for promoting a fair trade market. In the past, only a select few were able to participate in high-level discussions, which created even more development gaps between companies and professionals from non-traditional backgrounds. In this article, I will share resources that have helped me significantly in my journey as a Latina tech woman.

Latinx representation in tech-related jobs is under 11%, and what is more concerning Latinas only represent 3% of the IT workforce. Without enough Latinos in C-Suite and influential positions, it is even more challenging for those starting in the field. It is essential to showcase how capable, intelligent, resilient, and creative our community is to the rest of the world. Having diversity at any level in any industry promotes innovation and growth. Individuals from diverse backgrounds with unique experiences bring a wealth of fresh ideas to the table, which can lead to expansion and global success.

Here are some of the resources that have helped me in my journey as a data analyst from a non-traditional background:

• Latinas In Tech: A nonprofit organization that supports Latinas in the IT industry through mentorship programs and webinars with major tech companies focused on promoting inclusion at all levels.

• Techqueria: A nonprofit dedicated to serving the Latinx community through community engagement, professional development, and networking.

• Women in Data: A nonprofit organization that provides resources and support for women from minority groups who are looking to work in data-related roles. Women in Data is a great non-profit for you to ace your skills, networking, build your portfolio, and stay up to date with current trends.

• freeCodeCamp: This is an amazing platform to build skills. freeCodeCamp is is a non-profit where you can learn by doing a thousand IT-related skills, they offer you step-by-step tutorials, well-explained tutorial videos, and certifications as well. All of this, for free.

All of these nonprofits have been invaluable resources to me, allowing me to meet amazing people, build my portfolio, and refine my skills. For Latinx individuals, breaking into the tech industry can be difficult, and having a supportive community to relate to is crucial to maintaining motivation and high expectations.

For those already in the field, I encourage you to take action and support Latinx voices in tech. We need your support, your companies need it, and, most importantly, our society demands it.
